This episode decodes the life philosophy behind a thousand-year-old ancestral ritual. In Chinese Qingming means pure brightness. Qingming or Pure Brightness is one of the 24 Chinese solar terms. It's on April 4, 5 or 6 depending on the lunar year. Fifteen days after the Spring Equinox, Chinese communities around the globe observe three solemn acts of tomb-sweeping: cleaning and restoring gravestones, offering fresh fruits and incense, and burning joss paper to reach the unseen. These rituals, performed in the gentle rains of Qingming, bridge the realms of the living and the departed.
