香港特區政府統計處昨日發表的數字顯示，2026年年中香港人口升至751.83萬，較去年同期增加19,400人，升幅為0.3%。

Figures released yesterday (August 18) by the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government show that Hong Kong's population rose to 7,518,300 by mid-2026, an increase of 19,400 people or 0.3% compared with the same period last year.

期內錄得3.98萬名香港居民淨移入。

During the period, a net inflow of 39,800 Hong Kong residents was recorded.

特區政府發言人表示，各項吸引人才和輸入勞工措施持續吸引來自世界各地人士移入香港，抵消人口自然減少的影響，使最新人口數字較去年年中有所增加。

A spokesperson for the HKSAR Government said that various talent admission and labor import schemes continue to attract people from all over the world to move into Hong Kong, offsetting the impact of natural population decrease and resulting in an increase in the latest population figures compared with mid-last year.

有立法會議員指出，香港是傳統的金融中心和航運中心，加上正全速發展北部都會區，相信未來續可吸引大批生力軍尤其是創科人才來港發展，但特區政府必須做好衣、食、住、行相關配套安排以留住人才。

A Legislative Council member noted that Hong Kong is a traditional financial center and shipping hub, and that with the full-speed development of the Northern Metropolis, the city will continue to attract a large number of recruits, especially innovation and technology talent, to come for development.

However, the Government must make adequate supporting arrangements for food, clothing, housing, and transport to retain talent.

政府統計處數據顯示，去年年中至今年年中期間，香港錄得39,800名居民淨移入（即移入人數多於移出）。

Data from the Census and Statistics Department show that during the period from mid-last year to mid-this year, Hong Kong recorded a net inflow of 39,800 residents (i.e., more inflows than outflows).

其間有50,100名香港居民死亡、29,700名香港居民出生，錄得20,400人口自然減少（即死亡多於出生）。

During the same period, there were 50,100 deaths and 29,700 births among Hong Kong residents, resulting in a natural decrease of 20,400 people (i.e., more deaths than births).

今年年中的總人口中，常住居民佔725.3萬人，流動居民佔26.6萬人。去年年底人口修訂數字為750.9萬人，2024年年底至2025年底的人口變動率亦修訂為+0.1%。

Among the total population at mid-this year, resident population stood at 7.253 million, while mobile residents numbered 266,000. The revised population figure for end-last year was 7.509 million, and the population change rate from end-2024 to end-2025 was also revised to +0.1%.

根據香港特區政府入境處資料顯示，近年各項人才入境計劃接獲的申請從不間斷，當中單是高端人才通行證計劃去年便接獲逾3.5萬宗申請，同期間約3.1萬宗申請獲批；今年首7個月已接獲逾2.2萬宗申請，已是去年全年的63.5%。

According to data from the Immigration Department, applications received under various talent admission schemes have been continuous in recent years. Among them, the Top Talent Pass Scheme alone received over 35,000 applications last year, with about 31,000 approved during the same period; in the first seven months of this year, over 22,000 applications had already been received, accounting for 63.5% of the total for the whole of last year.

香港已成為不少境外人才作長遠發展的首選地，入境處處長郭俊峯日前便透露，2023年至今年上半年，入境處已透過「優秀人才入境計劃」共引進138名現役及退役運動員。

Hong Kong has become the preferred destination for long-term development for overseas talents. Director of Immigration Benson Kwok recently revealed that from 2023 to the first half of this year, the Immigration Department had brought in a total of 138 active and retired athletes through the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme.

他指出，除了低稅制外，治安良好、交通便捷、教育水平卓越、美食薈萃，以及特區護照帶來的出行便利等因素，都是國際人才選擇長遠扎根香港的關鍵。

He pointed out that, in addition to the low tax regime, factors such as public safety, convenient transport, excellent education standards, a rich culinary scene, and the travel convenience afforded by the HKSAR passport are all key reasons why international talents choose to settle in Hong Kong for the long term.
