As Coronavirus continues to spread across the globe, the rapid growth of confirmed cases in Europe is particularly concerning. The Hong Kong Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, held a press conference this afternoon (March 23) to announce the strengthening of anti-epidemic measures in Hong Kong, including a 14-day ban from 0:00 on Wednesday (March 25) that all non-Hong Kong residents arriving in Hong Kong by air from overseas will not be allowed to enter Hong Kong.
Prior to this new restriction, all overseas arrivals in Hong Kong, except those from Macau and Taiwan, would be subject to mandatory quarantine for 14 days upon arrival at Hong Kong Airport since midnight on March 18. But there are still many people having questions about this mandatory quarantine.
Besides, we found that at this particular time, a small number of people still chose to fly back to HK or head overseas. Plus, from our previous street interview, “Why don’t you wear a mask,” it is not difficult to see that due to cultural differences, some Western people and people from the East have a huge difference in their concepts and measures of fighting this epidemic.
So, on Day-1 of mandatory quarantine (March 19), our Italian guests Fabrizio and Stefano went to Hong Kong International Airport with full protective gear. Meanwhile, we brought a lot of protective supplies. On the one hand, we wanted to give a hand to someone in need. On the other hand, we wanted to find out what should be paid attention to after landing. Fabrizio was shocked at the scene, “I never saw in my life the airport. It was so empty.”
